Trojans fall to Lakers, 3-1
ESTHERVILLE - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Iowa Lakes Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest.
The Lakers (10-22 overall, 4-4 in the ICCAC) won 26-24, 29-27, 26-28, 25-15.
"Hopefully, we can learn from the loss and come back ready to fight harder than we played (Tuesday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "It was a difficult night trying to get kind of momentum and as a team we need to believe that we can make the shift needed to make those things happen."
NIACC freshman Megan Tobin had 12 kills, three digs and one block. The Trojans' freshman Hannah Brinkman had 11 kills, three blocks and two digs.
Also for the Trojans, Kinsey Anderson had 15 digs, three assists and one ace serve, Addison Tabbert had eight digs and three ace serves and Alicia Machacek had five kills, five blocks and two digs.
NIACC's Ellie Hanna had nine blocks and three kills, Emma Miller had eight kills, 12 digs, two blocks and one ace serve and Kenedee Frayne had 15 assists, six digs and one ace serve. The Trojans' Kit Byars had four kills and five blocks, Emily Opstvedt had 21 assists, six digs and two ace serves.
NIACC (11-17, 3-5) returns to action Thursday at home against No. 2 Kirkwood (25-5, 8-0). Match time in the NIACC gym is slated for 7 p.m.
