Trojans go 2-2 at All-In Tournament

ROCKFORD, Ill. - The NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday at the OWT All-In Tournament.
NIACC, which also went 1-1 on Friday, topped North Central Michigan 3-1 winning by the scores of 25-21, 15-25, 26-24, 25-17. Lincoln Land CC topped the Trojans 3-2 by the scores of 25-18, 19-25, 25-22, 23-25, 18-16.
"The early morning first match we started out a little flat but worked through some issues to find our rhythm," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "Sadly, we lost the second match in a hard 5-set thriller."
Freshman Megan Tobin led the Trojans with 20 kills, three digs and three blocks. Freshman Hanna Brinkman had 17 kills, four digs and one block.
Sophomore Ellie Hanna had 15 kills, eight blocks, three digs and one ace serve. Freshman Emma Miller had 12 kills, 23 digs and one ace serve.
NIACC sophomore setter Emily Opstvedt had 42 assists, 18 digs and four ace serves. Freshman setter Kenedee Frayne had 30 assists, 10 digs and three ace serves.
Also for the Trojans, Kinsey Anderson had 45 digs, eight ace serves and seven assists, Addison Tabbert had eight digs, four kills and one ace serve and Alicia Machacek had 12 kills and seven blocks.
NIACC's Kit Byars had 10 kills, six blocks and one assist and Alana Burton had one block.
NIACC returns to action with four matches Friday and Saturday at the Siouxland Tournament in Sioux City.
"The amount of growth from the first serve this weekend to the last was impressive," Brandt said. "So many great learning opportunities and we look forward to a day of rest and back to work again on Monday."
