
NIACC falls to Southeastern CC, 3-1
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Southeastern CC Wednesday night in an ICCAC match in the NIACC gym.
Southeastern CC (17-14 overall, 3-4 in the ICCAC) won 25-14, 22-25, 25-19, 25-17.
"Unfortunately, it was a night to start slow, fun highs, unpredictable lows and just about everything in between," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "We know they can do some amazing things as a team and now it's our job to help them believe in each other while working hard to keep getting better."
Sophomore Alyssa Wickersheim and freshman Ellie Hanna led the Trojans with seven kills apiece. Wickersheim also had 15 digs, one assist and one ace serve and Hanna added three digs.
NIACC freshman Alicia Machacek had six kills, four digs and one block. Sophomore Jaida Hansen had five kills, four digs and four blocks and Kit Byars had six kills, four digs and six blocks.
NIACC's Kennedy Schwiesow had 20 digs, four assists and one kill, Zhane Singer had five kills and one block, Abbie Hyde had eight digs, Emily Opstvedt had 13 assists and four digs and Iwalani Beltran had 15 assists, seven digs and three ace serves.
NIACC (9-15, 1-6) returns to action Friday and Saturday at home at the NIACC tournament.
