NIACC falls to Ellsworth, 3-0
IOWA FALLS - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision to Ellsworth Wednesday in an ICCAC contest.
Ellsworth (16-2 overall, 1-2 in the ICCAC) won 25-8, 25-16, 25-20.
"Every opportunity to play is an opportunity to learn," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "(Wednesday) we have learned it's time to expect more from ourselves - coaches can't do it for the players.
"Practice opportunities can't be wasted. The work needs to be done and the discipline must be part of our DNA."
Against Ellsworth, NIACC's Ellie Hanna had five kills and four blocks. Jaida Hansen had four kills and four blocks.
Also for the Trojans, Abbie Hyde had two digs, Kennedy Schwiesow had seven digs and one assist, Addison Tabbert had 15 digs, two ace serves and one block and Alicia Machacek had two kills and four blocks.
NIACC's Kelly Miller had two kills, one dig and one block, Emily Opstvedt had 11 digs, five assists and one kill, Iwalani Beltran had eight digs, seven assists and one ace serve and Kit Byars had six blocks and three kills.
NIACC (8-8, 0-3) returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Heartland CC Invitational in Normal, Ill.
"This weekend, we changed tournaments to play the best of the best at the Heartland tournament," Brandt said. "We are excited for the challenge and the chance to move forward together as a team."
