NIACC drops league match to Hawkeye CC
WATERLOO - The NIACC volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to No. 15 Hawkeye CC Thursday night.
Hawkeye CC won 25-20, 25-13, 25-20.
"We faced another ranked team (Wednesday)," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "as we finish what feels like the toughest couple of weeks we have ever scheduled.
"We did a good job of starting strong but just couldn't maintain the offense needed to finish the set. Our blockers did a great job of getting strong touches on the ball and our back row defense was scrappy to gove us lots of opportunities to keep the ball in play."
NIACC's Jaida Hansen had seven kills, two digs and one assisst and Addison Tabbert had seven kills and 10 digs.
NiACC's Kennedy Schwiesow had 18 digs and four assists, Ellie Hanna had six kills, one dig and one block and Iwalani Beltran had 13 assists, seven digs and one ace serve.
Also for the Trojans, Abbie Hyde had five digs, Alicia Machacek had one kill, one dig and one block, Kit Byars had four kills and one dig and Zhane Singer had three blocks, two digs and one kill.
NIACC (8-14 overall, 0-5 in the ICCAC) returns to action Wednesday at Southwestern in an ICCAC match, which starts at 7 p.m.
