Trojans' DeLong ties for third at IC Spring Invite
FORT DODGE - NIACC freshman Meghan DeLong tied for third at the Iowa Central Spring Invitational Saturday at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
DeLong, who is from Clear Lake, shot rounds of 80-75 - 155 to earn her third-place finish. Briar Cliff's Helene Getz Bermo was the individual medalist with a 75-72 - 147 and Iowa Central's Ivanna Becerra-Diaz was second with rounds of 76-73 - 149.
"Meghan really hung in there and had cut the lead down to three strokes after she went eagle/birdie on seven and eight," NIACC coach Chris Frenz said, "but the competition was tough (Saturday).
"Her 75 was very good and she feels good about following up a tough day Friday with a solid effort."
NIACc placed fourth in the team standings with a 349-367 - 716 in the two-day, 36-hole tournament. Briar Cliff was the team champion with a 315-317 - 632 and host Iowa Central was second with a 323-317 - 640.
