NIACC's DeLong earns ICCAC golfer of week honor
MASON CITY – NIACC's Meghan DeLong was selected as the ICCAC women's golfer of the week for the week of Sept. 23-29.
DeLong, who is from Clear Lake, placed fourth at DMACC's Jim Currell Invitational in Boone with a round of 83 on Sept. 27. DeLong won the Waldorf University Fall Invitational in Albert Lea, Minn. with a career-best round of 72 on Sept. 29.
The 72 by DeLong is the best round by a NIACC women's golfer in the Chris Frenz era, which began in 2006. The previous best round since 2006 were a pair of 73s by DeLong at the NIACC Fall Invitational earlier this season and Mikayla Smith at the Iowa Central Invitational on April 16, 2012.
It is the second time this season that DeLong has been honored by the ICCAC. She also won the women's golfer of the week award for the week of Sept. 16-22.
