
NIACC women roll past Southeastern, 82-49
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team rolled to a 82-49 victory over Southeastern CC Sunday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (19-7 overall, 12-5 in the ICCAC) led 26-10 after the first quarter and outscored the Blackhawks 23-10 in the second quarter to take a 49-20 lead at intermission.
Sophomores Keiara Anderson led the Trojans with 12 points and sophomore Kameron Jones was also in double figures with 10 points.
Also for the Trojans, Sonya Pothoff scored nine points. Tori Miller and Maggie Jones both scored eight points.
Freshman Zhane Singer led the Trojans with nine rebounds and freshman Madison Hillman collected eight rebounds.
NIACC's Alexis Schroeder, who scored seven points, dished out six assists and collected four steals.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at Southeastern CC 7-17, 4-13). Game time in Keokuk is slated for 5:30 p.m.
After Wednesday's contest at Southeastern, the Trojans host Iowa Lakes on Saturday and play at DMACC on Feb. 28 to wrap up the regular season.
NIACC, which currently is in fourth place in the league, opens NJCAA Region 11 tournament play at 1 p.m. on March 2. If the Trojans remain in the top four in the league standings, they would host a first-round contest on March 2.
