
NIACC women stop SWCC, 71-59
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team topped Southwestern CC 71-59 in an ICCAC contest Saturday afternoon in the NIACC gym.
NIACC led 31-19 after the first quarter. The Trojans outscored the Spartans 19-9 in the second quarter to take a 44-28 lead at the half.
NIACC was led by freshman post player Madison Hillman with 17 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocked shots. It was the second consecutive double/double for Hillman, who scored 16 points with 11 rebounds on Wednesday in a loss at Kirkwood.
It was Hillman's third double/double of the season. She also had a triple/double with 17 points, 13 rebounds and 10 blocked shots against Black Hawk College-Moline on Nov. 2 at the Konigsmark Klassic.
Freshman guard Lilly Radcliffe scored 19 points, including five 3-point goals.
NIACC (12-5, 5-3) returns to action Monday in a makeup contest at Iowa Lakes. Game time in Estherville is slated for 5:30 p.m.
