MASON CITY - The NIACC baseball team dropped a 13-3 decision to No. 19 Kirkwood in seven innings on Thursday afternoon at Roosevelt Field.
Kirkwood (26-13 overall, 11-5 in the ICCAC) pounded out 14 hits, including four home runs, to score its 13 runs. The Eagles scored in six of their seven at-bats, including five in the opening frame.
NIACC scored single runs in the first, third and sixth innings. George McIntyre hit solo home runs in the first and third innings and Lincoln Becker hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
It is the third time this season that McIntyre has hit two home runs in a single game. He also homered twice in both games of a doubleheader against Marshalltown CC on March 28-29.
McIntyre leads the Trojans with 13 home runs, which is tied for 11th on the school's single-season home run list.
NIACC (14-22, 7-10) returns to action Saturday and Sunday with a three-game series at Iowa Central.
