VINCENNES, Ind. - The NIACC baseball team split a pair of contests on Friday at the Vincennes Invitational.
NIACC (5-5) topped Lincoln Trail College 21-6 in six innings and fell to Vincennes University 11-8.
In the victory over Lincoln Trail College, the Trojans pounded out 19 hits, including six for extra bases, to score their 21 runs. The 21 runs is the most for the Trojans since they topped Minnesota North College-Hibbing 27-7 on March 10, 2024.
Freshman George McIntyre powered the Trojan offense against Lincoln Trail College. McIntyre was 5 for 5, including three doubles and a triple, with five RBIs and three runs scored.
The five hits is the most in a game since Isaac Huettl collected five hits against Minnesota North College-Hibbing on March 10, 2024.
It is the fourth time since 2013 that a NIACC baseball player had three doubles in one game. The last time a Trojan collected three doubles in a game was Shane Kelleher against DMACC in the second game of a twinbill on April 5, 2018.
NIACC's Cody Haynes was 2 for 4 with four RBIs. Payton Fort was 2 for 2, including a home run, with three RBIs and five runs scored.
The Trojans also received two hits from Lincoln Becker, Tommy Lyman, Minchan Kim and Ryan Coffman.
Trevor Hamil (2-0) gained the win for the Trojans allowing two runs on two hits with six strikeout and two walks.
In the loss to Vincennes University, Becker was 3 for 4, including a double, with two RBIs and two runs scored. McIntyre also drove in two runs for the Trojans.
Vincennes scored seven runs in the first inning and plated four runs in the third frame.
NIACC scored two runs in the first inning, three runs in the second inning and three runs in the fifth inning.
NIACC returns to action Saturday with a pair of games at the Vincennes Invitational.
