POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. - The NIACC baseball team dropped a non-league doubleheader to Three Rivers CC on Friday.
Three Rivers CC (2-0) won the opener 10-0 in five innings. The Raiders won the second game 7-6 in a nine-inning contest.
In the first game, the Raiders scored two runs in the first inning, six runs in the fourth inning and two runs in the fifth inning.
The Trojans were held to two hits in the opener, singles by Cody Haynes and Lincoln Becker.
NIACC's Ethen Roberts, who relieved starter John Skoro, did not allow a hit or a run in 2 1/3 innings of work. The sophomore right-hander struck out four and walked two.
In the second game, Three Rivers CC jumped out to a 6-0 lead after three innings by scoring six runs in the third frame.
NIACC scored two runs in the fourth inning, one run in the eighth inning and three runs in the ninth inning.
NIACC pounded out 11 hits to score its six runs, including a two-run home run from George McIntyre. Haynes was 3 for 5 with an RBI for the Trojans.
NIACC's Becker and Ryan Coffman both had two hits.
NIACC (0-4 overall) returns to action next weekend in a four-game series against Neosho County CC in Chanute, Kan. The two teams will play doubleheaders on Feb. 22-23.
