NIACC's Bertry wins USTFCCCA Central Region honor
FORT DODGE - NIACC's Sarah Bertry was selected as the USTFCCCA NJCAA Division II Central Region women's athlete of the year Friday night at the NJCAA cross country virtual banquet.
Bertry, a freshman from France, claimed the NJCAA Region XI Division II regional title on Nov. 1 in Fort Dodge in a time of 19 minutes, 2 seconds on the 5-kilometer course at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge.
At the regional meet, Bertry was selected as the NJCAA Region XI Divsion II female athlete of the year.
Bertry also won the Southwestern Spartan Classic and the Trent Smith Invitational in her freshman campaign. Her personal best time of 18:26 ranks third on NIACC's all-time 5K list.
Bertry and the NIACC women will compete in the NJCAA Division II national championships Saturday in Fort Dodge.
