
NIACC's Bertry wins ICCAC weekly honor for 5th time
MASON CITY – For the fifth time this season, NIACC's Sarah Bertry has been selected as the ICCAC Division II women's cross country athlete of the week for the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1.
Bertry, a freshman from France, was the NJCAA Region XI Division II individual champion at last Sunday's race in Fort Dodge. She won the regional title in a time of 19 minutes, 2 seconds.
Bertry was also honored as the NJCAA Region XI Division II runner of the year at the regional meet.
The regional title by Bertry is the fourth in NIACC women's cross country history. Elly Meyer won the 2005 regional title and Anna Buenneke claimed regional titles in 2010 and 2011.
Bertry was also honored as the ICCAC athlete of the week for the weeks of Aug. 31-Sept. 5, Sept. 21-27, Oct. 5-11 and Oct. 12-18.
The NIACC women's cross country team will compete at the NJCAA Division II national meet on Nov. 14 in Fort Dodge.
