No. 7 NIACC women win Southwestern Spartan Classic
CRESTON - The No. 7 (NJCAA Division II) NIACC women's cross country team won the Southwestern Spartan Classic with 27 points.
Indian Hills was second with 33 points. DMACC, Highland CC and Southeastern had individual runners but not enough to compile a team score.
NIACC freshman Sarah Bertry was the individual champion with a time of 19 minutes, 39 seconds on the 5-kilometer course on the Southwestern campus. The last NIACC women's runner to win an invidual title was Hannah Palmeter, who claimed the 2014 St. Ambrose Fighting Bee Invitational on Oct. 11, 2014.
Also for the NIACC women, Whitney Martin was third (22:33), Addy Witt was fifth (23:29), Lauren Kern was sixth (23:43) and Maisie Hoskins was ninth (24:42).
NIACC returns to action Oct. 9 in the Trent Smith Invitational on the NIACC campus.
