
NIACC women ranked 7th in second USTFCCCA poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's cross country team is ranked seventh in the second USTFCCCA NJCAA Division II poll, which was released Wednesday.
NIACC was ranked sixth in the first poll of the season released on Sept. 9.
Cowley (Kan.) CC remained No. 1 in this week's poll.
Heartland CC (Ill.) is ranked second and Hawkeye CC is ranked third. Wallace State CC (Ala.) is ranked fourth and Grand Rapids CC (Mich.) is ranked fifth.
On Sept. 11, NIACC placed fifth at the Grand View Viking Invitational. Freshman Sarah Bertry led the Lady Trojans with a fourth-place finish in a time of 19 minutes, 40 seconds on the 5-kilometer course.
Also for NIACC, sophomore Whitney Martin was 24th (22:56), freshman Addy Witt was 30th (season-best 23:21), Lauren Kern was 32nd (23:40) and Ashley Kriener was 38th (24:31).
NIACC returns to action Friday at the Southwestern Spartan Classic in Creston.
