Team notes
NIACC snapped a 2-game losing streak to Northeast CC. The Hawks won both contests in the 2021 season (83-65 in Norfolk, Neb. and 68-52 in Mason City).
NIACC coach Brad Vaught is 1-2 against Northeast CC.
NIACC improved to 6-1 overall and 1-1 in the ICCAC. The Trojans opened their ICCAC season with a 64-61 loss at home to Southeastern on Dec. 1.
It was the first road win for the Trojans since they won at Ellsworth 78-76 on March 31, 2021. NIACC was 13 of 18 (72.2 percent) from the free-throw line. It was the 5th time in 7 games that the Trojans have shot at least 70 percent from the free-throw line.
NIACC is 101-133 (75.9 percent) from the free-throw line, which ranks 4th in NJCAA Division II.
NIACC collected 14 steals against Northeast CC, which is the fourth highest in a game by the Trojans this season.
Individual notes
Ziyannah Connor – Scored 20 points with 9 rebounds and 5 steals … It was the second straight game that Connor scored at least 20 points with 9 rebounds. She scored 24 points with 9 rebounds in a 64-61 home loss to Southeastern on Dec. 1.
Alyssa Hames – Scored 18 points with 8 rebounds … The 18 points is the most in a game for Hames since she scored a career-high 19 points against Sisseton Wahpeton College on Nov. 6.
Chelsey Holck – Scored 9 points, including 3 3-point goals … It is the 4th time this season that Holck has made 3 3- point goals in a game … Holck leads the Trojans with 15 3-point goals ... Holck is 15 of 42 (35.7 percent) from 3- point range.
I'sis Brown – Scored a career-high 4 points against Northeast CC
