NIACC women fall to Southeastern, 64-61
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team dropped a 64-61 decision to Southeastern Wednesday in its ICCAC opener in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (5-1 overall) trailed 45-31 at the half. The Trojans outscored the Blackhawks 18-11 in the third quarter and 12-8 in the fourth quarter to trim the final deficit to three points.
NIACC had a chance to tie the contest in the final seconds, but Chelsey Holck missed a 3-point goal from the top of the key as time expired.
NIACC was led by freshman Ziyannah Conner, who scored a game-high 24 points, including 20 in the first half. Conner also grabbed nine rebounds and collected six steals,
Holck was next in line for the Trojans with 11 points, including three 3-point goals. Audrey Martinez-Stewart also reached double figures for NIACC with 10 points.
Martinez-Stewart had eight rebounds and Holck and Alyssa Hames both had six rebounds.
NIACC returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Northeast CC.
