No. 1 NIACC opens tournament play
MASON CITY - The No. 1 NIACC women's basketball team faces Little Priest Tribal College Wednesday in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Region XI tournament.
Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
NIACC (29-1) enters the regional tournament as the No. 1 seed. LPTC (4-25) topped Ellsworth 70-65 on Monday to earn the right to play the region's top seed. The 29-1 regular season by the Lady Trojans is the best in school history, besting the 28-2 mark by the 2013-14 squad.
The Lady Trojans, who are 13-0 at home this season, pushed enter the regional tournament with a 31-game home-court winning streak.home-court winning streak to 31 games.
NIACC topped LPTC 112-35 (Jan. 8) and 120-41 (Feb. 26).
The winner of Wednesday's game faces either fourth-seed Southwestern or fifth-seed Iowa Lakes at 1 p.m. Saturday. If NIACC wins, the semifinals and finals will be held in the NIACC gym on Saturday and Sunday.
