EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The No. 2 NIACC women's basketball team topped Sinclair CC 89-66 in the fifth-place game Monday at the Cougar Holiday Tournament on the Illinois Central Tournament.

Freshman Sydney Wetlaufer scored a career-high 26 points, including eight 3-point goals, to lead NIACC (14-1 overall). The eight 3-point goals is tied for 14th on NIACC's single-game 3-point list.

Autam Mendez and Sierra Lynch both scored 15 points for the Lady Trojans. Sierra Morrow scored 12 points with five blocks and four rebounds.

Morrow was selected to all-tournament team.

NIACC dropped its first-round game at the annual holiday tournament 65-59 to Bryant & Stratton. The Lady Trojans bounced back with a convincing 94-33 victory over Sauk Valley CC on Sunday in the consolation semifinals.

NIACC returns to action Jan. 8 at home against Little Priest Tribal College in an ICCAC contest.
