NIACC women ranked 6th in latest poll
MASON CITY - The NIACC women's basketball team is ranked sixth in the NJCAA Division II poll released Monday.
It is the 33rd straight poll that the NIACC women (14-1 overall, 1-0 in ICCAC) have been ranked in dating back to the start of the 2017-18 season.
Kirkwood (15-1) remained No. 1 in this week's poll. Kansas City (Kan.) CC (14-1) is ranked second and Lincoln Land (15-1) is ranked third.
NIACC, which was No. 2 in the Dec. 16 poll, dropped a 65-59 decision to No. 9 Bryant & Stratton (Wis.) on Dec. 28 in the opening round of the Illinois Central Cougar Holiday Tournament. The Lady Trojans won their final two games at the annual tournament and placed fifth.
NIACC and Kirkwood meet in their ICCAC contests on Jan. 29 (at Cedar Rapids) and Feb. 22 (at Mason City).
NIACC returns to action Wednesday at home against Little Priest Tribal College in an ICCAC contest. Game time is slated for 5:30 p.m.
