No. 2 NIACC rolls past Sauk Valley, 94-33

EAST PEORIA, Ill. - The No. 2 NIACC women's basketball team rolled to a 94-33 victory over Sauk Valley CC Sunday in the consolation of the Cougar Holiday Tournament on the Illinois Central campus.

Freshmen Shinaana Secody and sophomore Autam Mendez both scored 17 points to lead the Lady Trojans, who improved to 13-1 overall. NIACC also received nine points each from Sierra Lynch, Kelcie Hale, Allie Negen and Sierra Morrow.

Morrow led the Lady Trojans with 11 rebounds, five steals and five blocks. Freshman Brooke Heisler grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds.

The 33 points allowed by the Lady Trojans was the lowest since the NIACC women topped Harper College 121-28 in the 2017-18 season.

NIACC faces Sinclair CC at noon on Monday in the tournament's fifth-place game. Sinclair CC edged Carl Sandburg College 62-57 in overtime in its consolation semifnal Sunday.
