NIACC women to compete in 2019 ICCAC Summer Series
DES MOINES - The NIACC women's basketball team will compete in the 2019 ICCAC Summer Series Friday through Sunday at Grand View University.
At 5 p.m. on Friday, ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla will be a guest speaker.
Fraschilla started his career as an assistant coach at Providence under current Tennessee head coach Rick Barnes. Fraschilla then went on to coach Manhattan where he won two MAAC regular-season titles and one tournament championship. In 1995 Fraschilla was named MAAC Coach of the Year after going 26-5 and reaching the second round in the NCAA tournament. He made it to two total NCAA tournaments with the Jaspers.
After four seasons he went on to coach at St. Johns and New Mexico. Combined, he went to the NCAA tournament once and NIT three times. His coaching career ended with a 176-99 record.
Fraschilla is now an ESPN broadcast analyst most notably covering Big 12 men's basketball action.
On Friday, NIACC faces Lake Region at 6:30 p.m. on Court No. 1 in the main gym.
On Saturday, NIACC plays Iowa Western at 1 p.m. on Court No. 1 in the main gym. The Lady Trojans face John Wood CC at 6:30 p.m. on Court No. 2 in the main gym.
On Sunday, NIACC plays National Park College at 8 a.m. on Court No. 2 in the auxiliary gym and plays Labette CC at 10 a.m. on Court No. 2 in the auxiliary gym.
