NIACC's James places 2nd in 200 at Jim Duncan Invite
DES MOINES - NIACC sophomore Tyreese James placed second in the 200-meter dash Friday at the Jim Duncan Invitational in a personal-best time of 21.50 seconds.
James' previous personal best time in the 200 was 21.63 at the Emporia State Relays on March 29. The 21.50 seconds by James ranks third on the school's all-time outdoor 200 list.
James also placed sixth in the 100-meter dash in time of 10.65 seconds.
NIACC sophomore Terrence Thomas placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 13.08 meters (42 feet, 11 inches) and fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.88 meters (22-7).
NIACC freshman Gabe Hemsworth placed seventh in the 400 hurdles in a time of 56.21, which ranks second on NIACC's all-time 400 hurdles list. Hemsworth also placed eighth in the 400 in a time of 49.98, which ranks fifth on the school's all-time outdoor 400 list.
NIACC placed second in the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 41.96 running Joshua Koffi, James, Thomas and Quinton Ellis.
