Trojans place 2nd in 4x400 at regionals
STORM LAKE - The NIACC foursome of Terrence Thomas, Tyreese James, Gabe Hemsworth and Quinton Ellis placed second in the 4x400-meter relay Saturday at the NJCAA Region 11 championships.
The Trojans earned their second-place finish in a time of 3 minutes, 26.25 seconds. Indian Hills won the 4x400 in a time of 3:16.64.
Also for the Trojans Saturday, Thomas was second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.53 meters (47 feet, 8 inches).
NIACC freshman Isaac Thompson was seventh in the 1,600-meter run in a time of 4:42.02. Sophomore Joey Ringo was 11th (4:43.74).
NIACC sophomore Ryan Kelly placed eighth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:13.65.
James was eighth in the 60-meter dash in a time of 7.08.
The Trojans placed fourth in the 4x800-meter relay in a time of 10:01.83. The Trojans ran Ringo, Lukas Vance, Alex Moore and Kelly.
NIACC's Rodney Njezimani was ninth in the shot put with a toss of 12.62 meters. Colin Rasch was 10th with a throw of 12.41 meters and Marshall Zein was 11th (12.09 meters).
NIACC's Avery Culhane was 11th in the high jump with a leap of 1.74 meters (5-8 1/2).
NIACC placed fourth at the regional meet with 53 points. Iowa Western was the men's regional champion with 270 points.
