Trojans' Ellis breaks school record in 400
LUBBOCK, Texas - NIACC sophomore Quinton Ellis placed 15th in the 400-meter dash on Friday at the 2025 NJCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Sports Performance Center on the campus of Texas Tech in a school record time of 47.79 seconds.
Ellis broke his old school mark of 47.92 set on Feb. 15, 2025 at the SDSU Indoor Classic.
Also in the 400-meter dash on Friday, sophomore Tyreese James placed 32nd in a time of 49.57.
NIACC sophomore Terrence Thomas placed 13th in the long jump with a leap of 7.26 meters (23 feet, 10 inches).
Ellis placed 27th in the 200-meter dash in a time of 21.57.
On Saturday, the Trojans' Colin Rasch will compete in the weight throw and Thomas will compete in the triple jump.
The Trojans will also run in the 4x400-meter relay. The Trojans will run James, Thomas, Ellis and Gabe Hemsworth.
