NIACC's James sets school mark in 200
WAVERLY - NIACC's Tyreese James won the 200-meter dash at Wartburg College's Friday Knight Lights in a school record time of 22.04 seconds.
James, who is from Tortola, British Virgin Islands, broke the old indoor 200 school record of 22.11 seconds by Tinashe Chigudu at the NJCAA Division I championships on March 5, 2021. James' previous best indoor 200 time was 22.20 at the Hilltop Invitational on Jan. 25, 2025.
James also placed second in the 60-meter dash in a time of 6.84.
Also for the Trojans Friday, sophomore Quinton Ellis won the 600 in facility and meet record time of 1:21.23.
NIACc's Dakota Carlson was fourth in the high jump with a leap of 1.88 meters (6-2).
NIACC's Rodney Ngezimani was eighth in the shot put with a personal best toss of 13.76 meters (45 feet, 1 3/4 inches), which ranks fourth on the school's indoor shot put list. Ngezimani's previous personal best in the indoor shot put was 43-5 3/4.
Ngezimani was also 19th in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 13.88 meters (45-6 1/2), which ranks third on the school's all-time list. Ngezimani's previous best toss in the weight throw was 44-6.
NIACC's Colin Rasch was 10th in the shot put with a personal best throw of 13.21 meters (43-4 1/4), which ranks sixth on the school's all-time indoor shot put list. Rasch's previous best throw in the shot put was 42-4 14
Rasch was also 22nd in the weight throw with a personal best throw of 13.36 meters (43-10), which ranks fourth on the school's weight throw list.
NIACC's Gabe Hemsworth was eighth in the 400 in a time of 52.38.
NIACC returns to action Feb. 14-15 at the South Dakota State University Indoor Classic.
