NIACC's James places 2nd in 200 at regionals
STORM LAKE - NIACC sophomore Tyreese James placed second in the 200-meter dash Friday at the NJCAA Region 11 Indoor Championships on the Buena Vista campus.
James earned his second-place finish in a time of 22.25 seconds. Iowa Western's Wallace Aflamah was the 200-meter regional champion in a time of 21.93.
James also qualified for Saturday's finals in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6,86 in the prelims on Friday earning him the second-fastest qualifying time.
Also for the Trojans Friday, Terrence Thomas placed fourth in the long jump with a leap of 6.96 meters. Quinton Ellis was fourth in the 600 in a personal-best time of 1:21.22, which ranks second on the school's all-time indoor 600 list.
In the weight throw, the Trojans' Rodney Ngezimani placed eighth with a toss of 13.56 meters.
The Trojan quartet of Isaac Thompson, Gabe Hemsworth, Ellis and Ryan Kelly placed third in the distance medley in a time of 10:56.04, which is a season best time for the Trojans.
