
NIACC's Ringo wins 5,000 at Viking Classic
DES MOINES - NIACC freshman Joey Ringo won the 5,000-meter run Friday at the Grand View Viking Classic.
Ringo, who prepped at Newman Catholic, covered the 5,000 meters in a time of 16 minutes, 30.99 seconds. Culver-Stockton's Kile Dowd was second in 17:41.65.
Also for the Trojans at the Viking Classic, sophomore Parker McHone placed fourth in the 400 hurdles (59.63) and was fifth in the 110 hurdles (16.70). McHone's 59.63 in the 400 hurdles ranks sixth on NIACC's all-time 400 hurdles list.
In the long jump, NIACC freshman Jonathan LaDuke was sixth with a leap of 6.03 meters.
In the 800, NIACC's freshman Owen Almelien was seventh (2:03.89), sophomore Bryson Canton was eighth (2:04.74) and freshman Ryan Kelly wa 10th (2:07.80).
In the discus, NIACC freshman Colby Krutsinger placed sixth with a toss of 37.80 meters.
In the shot put, freshman Rodney Ngezimani was 10th with a toss of 12.64 meters.
