
NIACC's Ellis places 10th in 400 at Drake Relays
DES MOINES - NIACC freshman Quinton Ellis placed 10th in the 400-meter dash Friday at the Drake Relays in the university/college division.
Ellis, who is from Nassau, Bahamas, earned his 10th place finish in a time of 47.96 seconds, which is a personal best and ranks second on the school's all-time outdoor 400 list.
Ellis 10th place finish at the Drake Relays is the best for the Trojans since Tinashe Chigudu placed sixth in the college division 200 in a time of 22.02 seconds in 2021.
Also for the Trojans at the Drake Relays Friday, Terrence Thomas placed 16th in the triple jump with a leap of 13.36 meters in the university/college division.
The NIACC men's sprint medley team of Tyreese James, Quinton Ellis, Bruce Huggins and Jacob Vais placed 13th in the college division in a time of 3:22.95.
Thomas will compete in the Drake Relays long jump in the university/college division on Saturday at 1 p.m.
