
NIACC falls to Western Iowa Tech, 99-85
- Hackett records first career double/double (26 points/14 rebounds)
- Brown scores career high 24 points
- Trojans host Iowa Lakes on Saturday
SIOUX CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped a 99-85 decision to Western Iowa Tech Wednesday night in an ICCAC contest.
Western Iowa Tech led 48-35 at the half and outscored the Trojans 51-50 in the second 20 minutes to claim the 14-point victory.
Western Iowa Tech was led by Bie Ruei with 23 points. Ahmad Ingram was next in line for the Comets with 17 points off the bench.
NIACC was led by freshman Adam Hackett with a career-high 26 points and career-best 14 rebounds. It was Hackett's first career double/double.
Hackett's previous career-best point total was 14 three times and his career-high in rebounding total was eight against Kirkwood on Feb. 14.
Freshman Jordan Brown was next in line for the Trojans with a career-high 24 points. Brown's previous career high was 23 points against Iowa Western on Dec. 9.
It is the second time this season that the Trojans have had two players score at least 20 points in game. Omarion Roberts scored 25 points and Marquel Newsome scored 24 points against Northeast CC on Dec. 16, 2023.
NIACC (9-18 overall, 3-13 in the ICCAC) returns to action Saturday at home against Iowa Lakes on sophomore day. Game time in the NIACC gym is slated for 3 p.m.
NIACC wraps up its regular season Feb. 28 at DMACC.
