
NIACC falls to WIT in OT, 102-99
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team suffered an overtime defeat on Wednesday in ICCAC action as the Trojans fell to Western Iowa Tech, 102-99.
NIACC (8-8 overall, 2-4 ICCAC) led 44-41 at the break but trailed by as many as six points on three separate occasions in the second half before using a 16-2 run to recapture a 71-63 lead midway through the second half as Wyatt Helming led the way with 28 points. Helming, who added 15 rebounds for the Trojans, put NIACC up 87-85 with 58.1 seconds remaining in regulation before WIT (5-10, 1-6) tied the game with 9.2 seconds left.
Ra'Mir Scott had 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for NIACC. Adam Hackett had 13 points while Brayden Drea had 11 points and 9 assists off the bench.
Omarion Roberts and Jordan Brown also reached double figures for the Trojans, who suffered their second home loss in overtime this season, with 10 points apiece.
Latrel Davis led all scorers with 35 points while adding 12 rebounds for WIT.
NIACC travels to Iowa Lakes on Saturday.
