
Comeback falls short as Ellsworth tops NIACC, 93-85
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team saw its comeback fall a little short as the Trojans dropped a 93-85 decision to Ellsworth in ICCAC action on Wednesday.
NIACC (8-7 overall, 2-3 ICCAC) trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half before eventually tying the game at 75-75 with 5:21 remaining in the contest and took its only lead of the game at 78-77 moments later. However, the Panthers (13-2, 5-0) were clutch down the stretch to remain unbeaten in conference play.
NIACC had five players reach double figures, paced by Wyatt Helming's 16 points. Adam Hackett (14), Omarion Roberts (13), Ra'Mir Scott (12) and Keon Alexander (12) also added to the Trojans' attack. Scott had eight assists while Marquel Newsome added seven for the Trojans, who host Western Iowa Tech next Wednesday.
Chimobi Ikegwurka led Ellsworth with 25 points and 15 rebounds while Clinton Efinda had 23 for the Panthers.
