
NIACC men fall to DMACC
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped a 103-79 decision to No. 5 DMACC Saturday in the ICCAC opener for both teams in the NIACC gym.
Trey Lewis scored 26 points and James Glenn scored 25 points to lead DMACC (10-1). Omar Elchazli was next in line for the Bears with 19 points.
NIACC (6-4) was led by Wyatt Helming and Omarion Roberts with 21 points apiece. Helming also grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds for his fifth double/double of the season.
It was the first time that two NIACC players scored at least 20 points in the same game since Myles Tucker (38) and Jaydin Dunlap (30 ) against Ellsworth on March 1, 2023.
Roberts grabbed eight rebounds with four assists and two steals. Marquel Newsome led the Trojans with seven assists.
DMACC led 46-33 at the half and outscored the Trojans 57-46 in the second 20 minutes.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Iowa Central. Game time in Fort Dodge is slated for 7:30 p.m.
