
NIACC falls to Bryant & Stratton in OT, 91-89
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's basketball team dropped an 91-89 overtime decision to Bryant & Stratton Friday night at the Konigsmark Klassic.
The game was tied 81-81 at the end of regulation and the Bobcats outscored the Trojans 10-8 in the five-minute extra session to claim the non-conference victory.
It was the first overtime game for the Trojans since they topped Iowa Western 83-77 on Feb. 26, 2022.
Bryant & Stratton has three players score at least 20 points. Jaheem Tyson and Karter Thomas both scored 24 points for the Bobcats and Jalen Womack was next in line with 21 points.
NIACC was led by sophomore Wyatt Helming with 23 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots.
Also for the Trojans, Marquel Newsome scored 18 points with seven assists and Omarion Roberts had 16 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one steal.
NIACC had 20 assists in Friday's contest. It was the most assists in a game for the Trojans since they accumulated 24 assists in a 93-61 win over Minnesota North-Hibbing on Nov. 18, 2022.
NIACC returns to action at 5 p.m. Saturday against Black Hawk College-Moline at the Konigsmark Klassic.
