No. 16 NIACC falls to No. 5 Johnson County, 88-72
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — No. 16 NIACC cut a 19-point deficit at one point in the first half to two points twice in the fourth quarter only to fall 88-72 to fifth-ranked Johnson County.
"We learned that we're pretty tough and pretty good like we thought we were," NIACC coach Todd Ciochetto said of the performance.
In the fourth, missed free throws and a couple easy misses near the basket ultimately spelled doom down the stretch to help Johnson County pull away.
Former Northwood-Kensett prep Hattie Davidson led four Lady Trojans in double figures with 16 points, Taylor Laabs had 13, Kelsie Willert scored 11 and Morgan Cuffe finished with 10.
NIACC (6-5) is back in action Dec. 28 vs. Kalamazoo Valley Community College on the opening day of the Illinois Central holiday tournament.
