IOWA FALLS — It was a record-setting day for NIACC Friday in the Ellsworth Dale Howard Classic.
The Lady Trojans (3-0) drained 22 3-pointers as they rolled to a 109-65 win over Little Priest Tribal College. The 22 3-point goals in a game tied the NJCAA Division II record for 3-point goals in a game.
"We play free on offense and you can't key in on one person," NIACC coach Todd Ciochetto said.
The Lady Trojans' success Friday was built on its rebounding as they collected 33 offensive boards, including 14 on missed 3-pointers. They were also helped by a balanced offense, which saw 13 different players score.
Kelsie Willert led the way with 15 points on five 3-pointers, Cierra Stanciel scored 12, Taylor Laabs had 11 and Jordan Prantner, Marci Wolters and Hattie Davidson added 10 points apiece.
Additionally, Riley Galvin, UU Longs and Sarri Happel scored nine each. Longs also had seven boards.
NIACC is back in action today vs. Lake Land Community College at Ellsworth.
