NIACC drops two games to Pima CC

TUCSON, Ariz. — The No. 15 (NJCAA Division II) NIACC softball dropped a doubleheader against Pima Community College on Thursday.
The Lady Trojans fell 4-2 in the opener and 14-2 in five innings.
"That first game was a good game with two good teams going at it," NIACC coach Christi Weiser said. "We had the lead but they clawed away and got four runs in the sixth inning and then we didn't get the pitching we needed in the second game and they were able to hit the ball hard and find the gaps against us."
NIACC recorded six hits in the opener while the Lady Trojans were limited to three in the nightcap.
"Things didn't go our way at the plate," Weiser said. "I think we had eight line-drive outs in the second game. We were hitting the ball hard, just right at them."
NIACC (8-8), which dropped to 1-5 on its Arizona trip, will try to get back on track today when the Lady Trojans face the Gustavus Adolphus JV.
"We could be 4-2 right now on our trip but we're 1-5," Weiser said. "We're playing against good softball teams and these games are a great lesson for how the little things matter in softball. We have a couple of games left and I think we're a better team than we were at the start of the trip."
