NIACC softball team splits with Iowa Lakes
MASON CITY - The NIACC softball team nipped Iowa Lakes 1-0 in 12 innings in the first game of a doubleheader Wednesday at the NIACC softball complex.
Kendall Cornick scored the winning run from third base on a RBI fielder's choice by Allison Scott with one out in the 12th inning.
Lexy Pederson gained the win for the Lady Trojans in the circle. She struck out 14, walked four, hit one, allowed eight hits and held the Lakers scoreless for 12 frames.
Iowa Lakes won the second game, 9-1.
