NIACC faces Northeast in NJCAA Region XI-B title match
MASON CITY - The No. 13 NIACC volleyball team faces Northeast CC Sunday in the NJCAA Region XI-B title match.
Match time is slated for 1 p.m. in the NIACC gym.
Second-seed NIACC nipped Southeastern 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 23-25, 25-14, 15-7) in Saturday's first-round match. Third-seed Northeast CC topped Hawkeye CC 3-0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-15) in its semifinal contest on Saturday.
NIACC (31-8 overall) blanked Northeast CC 3-0 on Nov. 9 in their ICCAC regular season match in Mason City.
The winner of the NJCAA Region XI-B tournament advances to the NJCAA North Central B district match at the Metropolitian CC (13-23), the NJCAA Region XVI champion, on Nov. 9. Metropolitian CC, which is located in Kansas City, Mo., topped St. Louis CC 3-1 in the NJCAA Region XVI title match on Saturday.
However, if fifth-seed Kirkwood defeates top-seed Iowa Central in the NJCAA Region XI-A championship Sunday, the NJCAA Region XI-B winner would advance directly to the NJCAA Division II national tournament Nov. 21-23 in Charleston, W.V.

Note: Top-seed Iowa Central hosts fifth-seed Kirkwood in the NJCAA Region XI-A title match at 1 p.m. Sunday. At the regional tournaments, the highest-seeded champion earns an automatic bid to the NJCAA Division II national tournament Nov. 21-23 in Charleston, W.V. The lower-seeded champion moves to a district championship match at Metropolitian CC, the NJCAA Region XVI champion, on Nov. 9. The winner of the district match qualifies for the national tournament.
