No. 20 NIACC splits pair of matches
FORT DODGE - The No. 20 NIACC volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Iowa Central tournament on Friday.
NIACC (22-7 overall) dropped a 3-0 decision to Central CC (Neb.) - falling 25-15, 25-15, 27-25. The Lady Trojans topped St. Louis CC 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-14) in its second match of the day.
"We started the day playing flat and really struggled to string together points," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said, "but we came back playing much better for the St Louis match."
NIACC was led by sophomore Kennedy Meister, who collected 34 kills, 27 digs, three ace serves and three blocks. Freshman Becca Steffen had 37 assists, 23 digs, 13 kills and two blocks.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Bri Powers had 19 digs, Tessa Sienknecht collected 16 assists and nine digs, Megan Hollander had seven kills and eight blocks, Kayla Lentz had 6 assists and 25 digs,
Shelby Heston had eight kills, 17 digs and six blocks, Hannah Hanson had three kills and five blocks and Alexa Loftus had seven kills and 14 digs.
NIACC returns to action Saturday at the Iowa Central with two matches against Williston State College (10:45 a.m.) and NDSCS (2:15 p.m.)
