
NIACC stops Hawkeye CC, 3-2
MASON CITY - The NIACC volleyball team stopped Hawkeye CC 3-2 in an ICCAC match Wednesday night in the NIACC gym.
NIACC won 25-14, 25-22, 18-25, 23-25, 15-8.
"We are very proud of the efforts of the team," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "They worked hard to focus on what we needed as a team.
"They also did a nice job looking for opportunities to score and controlled their errors better in this match."
Sophomore Kennedy Meister led the Lady Trojans with 22 kills, 20 digs and two blocks.
NIACC's Becca Steffen had 30 assists, seven kills, 11 digs and four ace serves. Shelby Heston had seven kills, 11 digs and three ace serves and Kayla Lentz had 26 digs.
Also for the Lady Trojans, Tessa Sienknecht had 11 assists and five digs, Megan Hollander had six kills, Alexa Loftus had five kills and five digs, Braylee Wood had three kills and two blocks and Bri Powers had seven digs.
NIACC (10-4 overall, 1-1 in the ICCAC) returns to action Friday at home against DCTC. The match starts at 7 p.m.
