Meister records 1,000th career dig
IOWA FALLS - NIACC's Kennedy Meister made history Wednesday night.
Meister, a sophomore from Janesville, became the third player in NIACC history to record 1,000 kills in the Lady Trojans' 3-0 victory over Ellsworth.
NIACC (24-8 overall, 6-1 in the ICCAC) won 25-11, 25-14, 25-12. The 24 wins is the most for a NIACC volleyball team since the 2001 when the Lady Trojans were 27-21.
Meister, who entered Wednesday's match with 996 career kills recorded 11 digs and now has 1,007 career digs, which ranks second on the school's career list. Liv Block, who played from 2015-16, is the career leader with 1,083 digs.
"A big milestone accomplishment for Kennedy Meister as she passed the 1000 career digs," NIACC coach Chris Brandt said. "She has worked hard for her team and it's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that hard work."
Meister also recorded 13 kills and two ace serves.
Also for the Lady Trojans Wednesday, Bri Powers had eight digs, Jennie Barkema had two blocks, Tessa Sienknecht had seven assists, Megan Hollander had three kills, three digs and three blocks, Kayla Lentz had 13 digs, Becca Steffen had five kills, 24 assists, two ace serves and six digs, Shelby Heston had six kills, seven digs and four blocks and Alexa Loftus had eight kills and nine digs.
"Our focus was on how we played as a team (Wednesday) as we continue to work on little things," Brand said.
NIACC returns to action Friday and Saturday at the Iowa Lakes Tournament.
