Trojans face No. 11 Northeast CC in tourney opener

NORFOLK, Neb. - The sixth-seeded NIACC women's soccer team will face third-seed Northeast CC in the opening round of the NJCAA Region 11 Division II tournament at 3 p.m. on Sunday.

No. 10 Iowa Central (9-4-3 overall) earned the top seed and a first-round bye by winning the regular season with a record of 8-0-1.

Second-seed Hawkeye CC hosts seventh-seed DCTC and fourth-seed Iowa Lakes hosts fifth-seed Western Iowa Tech in the other two opening round matches on Sunday.

NIACC (6-7-2, 4-5) dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 11 Northeast CC (13-4-2, 7-1-1) on Oct. 9 in Mason City in the regular season contest.

The winner of the NIACC/Northeast CC contest faces the Hawkeye CC/DCTC winner on Wednesday at the site of the highest remaining seed.
