MASON CITY - The NIACC women's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to No. 12 Northeast CC Wednesday afternoon in an ICCAC contest on the NIACC campus.
The match was tied 0-0 at the half and the Trojans took a 1-0 lead at the 26-minute mark of the second half on a goal from freshman midfielder Emmalyse Bordignon with an assist from Karly Holm.
Northeast CC (9-4-2 overall, 3-1-1 in the ICCAC), however, scored the final two goals of the contest to claim the 1-goal victory. The Hawks scored their two goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest - one at the 10-minute mark and one at the 8-minute mark.
It was the second straight match for the Trojans against a rated team. On Monday, the Trojans tied No. 15 St. Charles CC 0-0.
NIACC (4-5-2, 2-3) returns to action Saturday in an ICCAC contest at Marshalltown CC. Match time is set for 1 p.m.
