
NIACC knocks off No. 21 Iowa Western, 73-68
MASON CITY - For the second time this season, the NIACC men's basketball team knocked off a ranked opponent.
NIACC (12-5 overall, 5-3 in the ICCAC) received 18 points off the bench from sophomore Adam Hackett and upset No. 21 (NJCAA Division II) Iowa Western 73-68 Saturday afternoon in an ICCAC contest in the NIACC gym.
Earlier this sesaon, NIACC stopped then No. 9 Ellsworth 90-85 on Nov. 30 in Iowa Falls.
In Saturday's win over the Reivers, Hackett also had six rebounds, one assist, one steal and one blocked shot.
Also for the Trojans, Lance Helming and Jaheim Savage both scored 12 points, also off the bench. Helming also collected four rebounds while Savage had five assists, two rebounds and one blocked shot.
NIACC's Zion Wright scored nine points with 11 rebounds, two steals, one assist and one blocked shot.
NIACC sophomore guard Omarion Roberts scored eight points with six assists, five rebounds and three steals. The Trojans' Brayden Drea scored nine points with four rebounds and three assists.
Iowa Western (12-6, 5-3) was led by Bryson Calamese with 15 points. The Reivers' Jadon Cool scored 14 points and Daleron Thomas scored 10 points.
NIACC returns to action Wednesday in an ICCAC contest at Western Iowa Tech. Game time in Sioux City is slated for 7:30 p.m.
