
NACC's Roberts earns ICCAC weekly honor
MASON CITY - For the second straight week, NIACC sophomore point guard Omarion Roberts has been selected as the ICCAC Division II men's basketball player of the week.
Roberts also won the award for the week of Nov. 25-Dec. 1. Roberts is the first NIACC men's player to win the award in consecutive weeks since Al Davis won the award in back to back weeks in February of 2015 (Feb. 9-15 and Feb. 16-22).
Roberts, who is from Silvis, Ill., guided the Trojans to two ICCAC victories last week. Roberts scored 28 points with two steals, two assists and two rebounds in the Trojans' home win over Iowa Lakes and he recorded his first career double/double with 24 points and 12 rebounds in the Trojans' road win at Northeast CC.
Roberts is averaging 21.3 points per game, which ranks second in the ICCAC Division II. He also leads the league with 52 assists, ranks second with 29 3-point goals and is third with 30 steals.
NIACC (10-2 overall, 3-0 in the ICCAC) returns to action at home Wednesday against Southwestern CC in an ICCAC contest. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
