
NIACC routs DCTC, 7-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's soccer team picked up a 7-0 non-conference victory over DCTC Saturday afternoon on the NIACC campus.
NIACC led 1-0 at the half and outscored DCTC 6-0 in second 45 minutes to improve its record to 6-0.
The Trojans are off to a 6-0 start for the first time since the 2008 season when they started 8-0. The Trojans have outscored their opponents 29-1 in their six matches this season.
Saturday's victory is the fourth straight shutout for the Trojans. Sophomore Edoardo Alessandrini (5-0) picked up his fourth shutout of the season in goal for the Trojans.
The four straight shutouts by NIACC is the most consecutive shutouts since the Trojans began the 2008 season with six straight shutouts.
NIACC received seven goals from seven different players in Saturday's contest.
Sophomore Elia Salvatore Antonini scored the Trojans' first half goal on a free kick.
Scoring goals for the Trojans in the second half were Kobi Jones, Maximiliian Torres-Sarabia, Javier Calderon, Matias Campos, Max Polson and Charlie Ronald.
Calderon led the Trojans with two assists. Torres-Sarabia and Victor Hugo Januario also had assists in Saturday's victory.
NIACC returns to action Tuesday and Wednesday in Gillette, Wyo. The Trojans face Casper College on Tuesday and Gillette College on Wednesday.
