
NIACC blanks DCTC in tourney opener, 6-0
MASON CITY - The NIACC men's soccer team blanked DCTC 6-0 Sunday afternoon in the opening round of the NJCAA Region XI Division II tournament on the cold, rainy, windy NIACC campus.
NIACC, which has won three straight games, led 3-0 at the half and also added three goals in the second half to advance to the regional tournament final four.
Third-seed NIACC (7-9-1) faces second-seed Southeastern (10-7-1) in the regional semifinals on Wednesday in West Burlington. Southeastern received a first-round bye in the regional tournament. NIACC gained a 1-0 forfeit win over Southeastern and the Blackhawks nipped the Trojans 2-1 in their two regular season meetings.
In Sunday's match, the Trojans received two goals from Giovani Lima Soares and goals from Nathan Skeete, Axel Deligdisch, Gian Lucca Scatolin and Rodrigo Catala.
Skeete also added three assists in Sunday's contest. Lucca Scatolin, Lewis Bowes and Lima Soares also had assists.
