MASON CITY - The NIACC men's soccer team opened the 2021 season with a narrow 2-1 victory over St. Louis CC on Sunday on the NIACC campus.
The match was tied 1-1 at the half and the Trojans took the lead for good with 14 minutes, 49 seconds remaining in the contest with a goal from Axel Deligdisch. Kagiso Madisha assisted on the game-winning goal.
St. Louis (0-2) took a 1-0 lead early in the first half on an unassisted goal from Loubert Ladouceur. The NIACC defense with Levi Nolan-Morgan in goal held the Archers scoreless the rest of the way.
NIACC tied the contest at 1-1 with 15:25 remaining in the first half when Nathan Skeete scored his first career goal.
NIACC returns to action Thursday at William Penn University Junior Varsity in a non-conference contest starting at 4 p.m.
